Why do a body composition scan when on GLP-1 medications?
GLP-1 medications help reduce appetite and support weight loss — but the scale alone doesn’t tell you what kind of weight you’re

SVMC began in 1986 in the Old Samford Post Office, created to give local people access to compassionate, consistent healthcare close to home. As the community grew, the practice grew with it – moving across the road to the corner of Station and Main Street, expanding over time, to meet demand before settling into our purpose-built clinic at 26 Station Street in 2015.
For decades, Dr Trish Moloney and the SVMC team cared for generations of Samford families with warmth, steadiness and a strong commitment to long-term relationships. After Dr Trish retired in 2023 following 37 years of service, SVMC entered a new chapter – one that continues to honor that legacy while strengthening access to modern and evidence-based care.
In 2025, Dr Michelle Ledbury took ownership of SVMC. Today as a GP-owned practice, SVMC remains focused on what matters most: a familiar team, care that listens, and support that follows through for patients, their families and the wider Samford community.
Dr Michelle Ledbury has over 20 years’ experience working across hospital, community and general practice settings. She has a strong focus on women’s health and supports patients across all stages of life, with a particular interest in midlife health. Michelle’s approach is grounded in evidence-based medicine, with attention to lifestyle, mental wellbeing and preventative care.
