How to book

Booking is simple. You can book online anytime, or call our friendly reception team if you’d prefer to speak to someone.

Appointment lengths and planning ahead

We aim to provide care that listens, which means allowing enough time for your needs. For straightforward concerns, a standard appointment is usually suitable. If you have more than one issue, a long-standing health concern, or you’d like time to discuss a plan in details, we may recommend a longer appointment so you don’t feel rushed. Reception can guide you, and your GP may also suggest the best appointment type for next time.

Fees & Billing

Samford Valley Medical Centre is a mixed billing practice. Fees can vary depending on the appointment, time of the week and your circumstances, and we aim to keep billing clear and consistent. Our extensive fee schedule is available on request.

If cost is a concern, please let reception know when booking so we can help you understand what to expect and direct you appropriately.

Results & Recalls

When your doctor orders tests such as blood work or imaging, it’s important to make sure you receive and understand your results.

In many cases, normal results may be sent to you by SMS if you have provided consent, but it is our policy not to contact you with a normal result. Sometimes your doctor may ask you to book an appointment to discuss your results in more detail.

Reception staff are not able to give results over the phone unless your doctor has specifically arranged this.

If a result is abnormal or requires follow-up, your doctor will ask you to book an appointment either in person or via telehealth so that the results and next steps can be discussed properly.

If you haven’t heard from us within a reasonable timeframe, usually 3–5 days after your test, please contact our reception team by phone or email. Very occasionally, results may be delayed or do not reach the clinic.

With your consent, we may also use SMS to send recalls and reminders for follow-up tests, appointments or routine screening, such as cancer screening. Please let reception know if you would like to opt out from reminders.

Scripts & Referrals

For regular patients, repeat prescriptions and referrals may be provided without a consultation.

Requests can be submitted via the HotDoc app or via reception and a fee of $39 applies. Some requests may still require an appointment – and so will depend on whether a review is needed to keep your care safe.

Please note that referral letters are legal documents and cannot be backdated if the appointment took place on a date prior to the request.

After-hours Care

If you need medical care outside of opening hours, after-hours services are available. If you’re unsure what to do, call the after-hours number (13SICK – 137425) for guidance, or attend urgent/emergency services.

If you require immediate assistance, please call 000 or attend your nearest emergency department.

Contact & Opening Hours

You can reach us by phone for bookings, questions about appointment types, or help navigating next steps. Our friendly reception is here to make things easier – especially if you’re not sure where to start.
