Midlife brings real physical and emotional changes, and they don’t always arrive neatly or one at a time. At Samford Valley Medical Centre, dedicated perimenopause and menopause appointments with Dr Michelle Ledbury give you the time to talk through what you’re experiencing, understand your options, and make a plan that fits your life.
Who these appointments are for
You might like to book if you are:
- noticing changes in your cycle, sleep, mood, energy or concentration
- experiencing hot flushes, night sweats, joint aches or other symptoms you think may be hormone-related
- wanting clear, evidence-based information about treatment options
- going through early or surgical menopause
- thinking about your bone, heart and metabolic health as you move through midlife
You don’t need to be sure your symptoms are “menopause” before you book. Working that out together is part of the appointment.
What to expect
Menopause appointments are longer than a standard consultation, so there is time to listen properly. Your appointment may include:
- a detailed conversation about your symptoms, health history and what matters most to you
- a review of relevant screening and tests, such as blood tests, cervical and breast screening, and bone health
- discussion of the full range of options, including lifestyle, sleep, nutrition and exercise, and hormonal and non-hormonal treatments
- shared decision-making, so the plan reflects your preferences
- a clear plan for follow-up, because symptoms and needs often change over time
Tip: it can help to jot down your symptoms, your cycle and any questions for a few weeks before your appointment.
Whole-person midlife health
Menopause care is about more than symptoms. Michelle’s approach is individualised and comprehensive, bringing together lifestyle, metabolic health, mental wellbeing and evidence-based medical care. Where it helps, your care can link in with our weight management, mental health and chronic disease care, all under one roof.
