Men’s Health

Men are often less likely to see a GP until something is wrong, but many of the conditions that matter most for men’s long-term health are easier to manage when they’re picked up early. At Samford Valley Medical Centre, we offer practical, evidence-based men’s health care at every stage of life, with time to talk things through and clear advice you can act on.

Any of our GPs can look after your health, and for men who prefer to see a male doctor, Dr Ben McCullough, Dr Oran Carroll and Dr Christian Collopy are available across the week.

What we can help with

  • Health checks: a regular check-up tailored to your age, family history and lifestyle
  • Heart and metabolic health: blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes and weight
  • Prostate health: urinary symptoms and whether prostate (PSA) testing is right for you
  • Sexual health: erectile problems, testicular concerns, STI testing and contraception
  • Mental health: stress, low mood, anxiety, sleep and alcohol use
  • Injuries and ongoing conditions: back pain, joint problems, work and sporting injuries
  • Skin checks: through our dedicated skin cancer clinic

Not sure if something is worth mentioning? It usually is. Many men come in for one thing and find it helpful to raise something else while they’re here. If you have a few things to discuss, ask for a longer appointment.

Prostate testing has changed

New Australian guidelines have changed how prostate testing is approached. Read our article, Prostate Testing Has Changed: What the New 2026 Guidelines Mean for Men, then talk it through with your GP to decide what’s right for you.
