Ms Karen Shann - Diabetes Educator

Karen is a 'hospital trained' nurse from the UK and since 2008 has worked as a credentialed diabetes educator and certified insulin pump trainer. 

Karen has lived in Australia since 1997 and worked at the Royal Children's Hospital in Brisbane for many years. Karen moved into private practice in 2014 and began T1D Partnership. Karen practices at various locations in the Brisbane metro region.

Mr Timothy Douge - Exercise Physiologist

Tim is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist specialising in lifestyle modification programs for people with chronic diseases, injuries or other barriers. Using the latest research regarding the benefits and applications of exercise Tim aim to improve the physical functionality and overall well being of an individual or group.

Tim has experience working with aged populations, athletes, people with disabilities and chronic diseases. In working with the general population he provides expert support for people wishing to improve their health and fitness as well as implementing health and wellness programs and presentations for corporate groups.

Mr Ian Kershaw - Psychologist

Fridays weekly.

Ian has over 20 years experience as a psychologist and counsellor. Ian began his career working for Kids Helpline and Parentline as a counsellor and is a trainer practitioner in Triple P. He has also previously worked in couples and family counselling with Relationships Australia. 

More recently Ian has moved into private practices providing services in a number of locations in Brisbane and Mackay. Highly experienced in various counselling services, Ian uses strategies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapies (CBT), solution-focussed therapy, mindfulness and interpersonal therapy.

Ms Kristina Challands - Psychologist

Tuesday & Wednesday Afternoons weekly.

Kristina provides psychological, counselling, psychotherapy and life coaching services. She supports individuals from adolescents to the elderly and couples, veterans and those with workplace injuries. Kristina is committed to providing evidence based psychological services tailored to her clients' specific needs. 

Practicing predominately from an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) approach (a new wave form of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) Kristina also uses Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Schema and Mindfulness-based approaches where appropriate. 

Kristina works with a range of issues including depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, coping with loss and adjustment, and people experiencing stress. Relationship therapy is a special area of interest for Kristina and she can work with couples to repair, rebuild or rejuvenate relationships. Kristina uses Gottman Method Couples Therapy. Based on 40 years of research with thousands of couples to provide clients with new insights and skills to improve intimacy and friendship in their relationships and to manage conflict in a healthy positive way. 

Ms Danielle McLaughlin - Dietitian

Thursdays monthly (3rd week of each month)

Danielle’s passion for understanding and helping others understand the benefits of healthy eating developed from a high involvement in a diverse range of sports and influenced by a variety of coaching and health experts.  Along with this, through exposure to a number of chronic and acute conditions within her own extended family, Danielle is able to work towards goals and provide relevant and helpful dietary and lifestyle advice.

Danielle is passionate about ensuring every patient has a personalised plan, providing evidence based practice and enhancing quality of life. With a wide variety of experience Danielle has worked in clinical and community settings, public health and aged care. She has special interest in Diabetes, Coeliac disease, Cardiovascular disease, Renal disease and weight loss and weight management. 

Mr Craig Brinin - Hearing Life

Wednesdays fortnightly.

Craig is a qualified Audiologist and has been working for HearingLife for more than 11 years. Craig loves the variety of clients finds reward in helping them achieve better hearing.
